The Policy Studies Organization and the managing editorial board of the Journal on Policy and Complex Systems are pleased to announce the relaunch of the open-access journal under a new name, Journal on AI Policy and Complex Systems. The change represents a positive move toward providing authors with a space to communicate policy research in the increasingly intertwined fields of advanced, applied, artificial intelligence, and complex systems. Complexity and Network Science have a long tradition of applying AI approaches - from the cellular automata and agent-based models to the novel discipline of Collective Intelligence. With this change, we aim to satisfy an urgent social need to serve as a bridge between our vast network of experts and both policy-makers and the public. The Journal on AI Policy and Complex Systems is the authoritative source of artificial intelligence policy research.
Percy Venegas Editor-in-Chief Journal on AI Policy and Complex Systems About UsThe world we live in is oftentimes unpredictable, surprising, fast-changing, challenging, connected in unexpected ways, and sometimes extreme. In other words, the world is complex. Such a complex world requires government policies that are measured, thoughtful, comprehensive, systemic, augmented, and pre-tested to the extent possible to address the challenges of this changing world. Because of these fast-paced changes and intricate net of phenomena we are currently involved with, a journal like the Journal on AI Policy and Complex Systems is crucial for a more thorough understanding of the world we live in. Papers in this journal bring up theoretical and practical importance issues, quantitative and qualitative modeling, research, and education orientation of experimental and speculative nature.
Our Mission The Journal on AI Policy and Complex Systems focuses on providing the platform where policymakers, experts in relevant disciplines, and modelers will come together to offer scientifically valid and societally appropriate solutions to the most challenging problems the world faces today. We continue our effort to build this new discipline at the intersection of policy and complexity, looking forward to building a community for the benefit of us all.
